The VTCRI's mission is to make major scientific advances in understanding the fundamental processes of human health and disease. Research at the VTCRI includes basic and translational investigation in several key areas of human health such as: neuroscience including decision-making, addiction and substance abuse, social cognition, neurodegenerative diseases and brain development; cancer biology including cell signaling and therapeutic design, infectious diseases including molecular virology and genetics, cardiovascular science and wound healing and regenerative medicine; and public health and education including children's studies. The VTCRI research is laboratory, clinic based, and community based and utilizes platforms and skills that include: functional human brain imaging, cellular and molecular biology, laser based optical imaging, electrophysiology, human behavior, animal behavior, molecular genetics, computer modeling, mathematics, statistics, informatics, structural biology, light and electron microscopy, ultrasound technology development, virology, human development and population based studies.
We are looking for Research Assistants that can work on a short term basis in an hourly wage capacity who have interest and experience in any of the above areas. The positions available will range in length between 1 month and 1 year and can be renewed as needed. There are no fringe benefits associated with these positions, they are ideal for individuals looking for part time work, students, or others looking to expand their experience in the research field.
Duties and responsibilities vary based on specific needs of the research projects. They may include but are not limited to performing daily lab routines, ordering supplies, and monitoring inventory. Duties may also include maintaining records of research and interacting with human research subjects and data analysis and handling.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
