The Research Accounting Manager performs post-award financial and administrative functions associated with external funding sources for Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI), the university's largest research institute with over $30 million in annual sponsored funding.
The successful candidate will work with the VTTI proposal team and the Office of Sponsored Programs to review contract awards and modifications. The Research Accounting Manager works with the principal investigator and/or project manager to facilitate the contract administrative requirements, including providing guidance on procurements, special reporting requirements, and budget planning. This position will be responsible for compliance with both university and award agency policies, especially ensuring that all direct charges to projects are appropriate. The Research Accounting Manager will serve as liaison between the VTTI research teams and the university's Office of Sponsored Programs post-award group, the Purchasing Office, the Controller's Office, and other internal departments and external groups as needed. The successful applicant will be responsible for completing financial reports and other university fiscal processes by established deadlines, and facilitating project close-out in a prompt and efficient manner.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
