Responsible for all payroll tax activities, including making tax deposits, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and filing local, state, and federal payroll tax returns within established deadlines. Reconcile deductions from paychecks and initiate benefit payments. Ensure compliance with pre and post-tax deduction requirements; work with 3rd party administrators to resolve issues or discrepancies. Perform periodic trial balances and ongoing reconciliation of year-to-date totals impacting employee earnings and withholdings. Preparation and timely issuance of W2s for all university employees. Assist employees with understanding the impact of deductions and tax withholding to payments issued. Stay informed of IRS regulations related to income tax withholding and benefits. Assist with researching tax regulations affecting employee compensation, fringe benefits and payments to non-residents to ensure federal, state and local compliance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
