Summary:
Oversees and maintains company's investment in facilities and equipment, physical appearance and image by scheduling maintenance, repair, or replacement of the same and by keeping applicable records.
Supervises and coordinates activities of Tool & Die department employees by performing the following duties.

Manage, initiate, and direct the activities of the Tool & Die department employees.
Conducts and/or participates in team meetings to improve die performance.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts and assigns duties accordingly.
Understanding and applying engineering tools including:
FMEA, APQP, Gage R&R, statistical techniques (Cpk, SPC), design of experiments (DOE) and problem solving (i.
e.
DMAIC).
Provides on-going production shop floor support for all dies troubleshooting.
Ensures dies are available and ready for use on production shop floor.
Creates conceptual designs for fixtures, gages, and special cutting and punching tools.
Conducts tool design reviews with:
Tooling Team personnel, purchasing personnel, and outside tool supplies.
Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety, and Hazardous Waste reviews to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe working environment for employees.
Provides technical support to purchasing personnel and suppliers by interpreting product drawings, initiating the development of manufacturing drawings and promote technical solutions.
Develops and maintains a preventive/predictive maintenance system for any and all machine available on tool room shop floor.
Obtains and optimum level of inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts by reviewing stock levels and requisitioning purchases.
Assures that all maintenance, upgrades and additions to the shop floor and equipment are performed according to required codes, regulations, and safe practice standards.
Obtains quality service required of outside labor and services providers by interviewing them and evaluating their price, goods, and services.
Protects company property and employees by maintaining security system.
Assists in achieving annual operating plan by monitoring expenses and making prudent business decisions.
As a support department to manufacturing, coordinates tool room activities with other departments.
Discusses priorities, schedule changes, and issues with production on an ongoing basis.
Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists workers in solving work problems.
Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949:
2016).
Makes and implements recommendations that promote continuous improvement.
Takes part in layered audits, responds to internal audit findings immediately, and takes corrective action.
Travel as required for company business transactions.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, applicable laws, and the labor contract.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Develops the tool room skills and knowledge of the tool room department associates by teaching and mentoring them using standard, safe, good business practices for all tool room activities.
Conducts periodic safety meeting and shop floor inspection.
Maintains time records, absentee and vacation schedules.

) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in a related discipline.
Ability to interpret blueprints required.
Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a Tool Room or Maintenance Supervisory Position.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to work any continuous or fixed schedule, possibly including an excessive number of hours (12 - 16) in a single workday, on any day of the calendar week depending on business needs.
Knowledge of metal and plastics manufacturing, metal stamping, slitting or roll coating preferred.
Preferred Lean training in TPS (Toyota Production System), Six Sigma, or other similar lean training, such as 5S, Kaizen, Muda, Heijunka, etc.
Training and work experience in practices such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Quality Management (TQM), Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Design of Experiment (DOE), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use Microsoft Office (minimum Excel and Word).
